October Update

October 2011

Dear Praying Friends and Family,

Thank you for your prayers during this past month. The Lord has been so good to answer prayer, provide direction, and give strength for each new day. Sometimes I wonder what my ministry would look like without the fervent prayers of God’s children on my behalf. Each of you who faithfully pray is a vital part of this ministry. I am reminded of the truth taught in James...

“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
James 5:16

This month is best summarized in three words: Travel, Activities, and Extras

Travel—The Lord was good to allow me travel home for two weeks this month to attend my younger brother’s wedding. Much of those two weeks were spent flying, waiting in airport layovers, and traveling many miles by car. :-) It was such a blessing to spend time with family and get to participate in the beginning of a new chapter in my brother’s life. I am especially excited to have gained a sister-in-law! My time in the States passed all too quickly, yet I was also anxious to get back to my ministry here in Peru.

Activities—Once I arrived back in Peru there was little time to catch my breath! On October 21st we enjoyed “Fetzer Family Fun Night.” This is an enjoyable night of fellowship for the school in which the choir sings and students, teachers, and families share their hidden talents through songs and skits. Some of the selections are focused on worship, and some are just plain silly and fun. The night is always filled with laughter and ends with delicious food prepared by our Fetzer moms.

At both school and church we are starting to work on special Christmas programs! (Can you believe that Christmas is less than two months away?!) At school we will be presenting a musical drama, and at church we will also have several choir numbers and possibly a drama as well.

My Sunday School class just finished going through the book Lies Young Women Believe and the Truth that Sets them Free. I enjoyed teaching through the material and appreciate your prayers as Vicky and I decide what to begin teaching next. We have a pretty faithful group of 3 or 4 girls that attend. Pray that their spiritual needs will be met and that they will hunger to know Christ and walk with Him.

I recently talked to Karina, a girl from church, about beginning a discipleship. She is interested and we are setting up a time to meet weekly. Pray that she will have a desire to study the Word and that the Lord will use this time to grow both of us. I am excited about this opportunity!

Extras—As I mentioned last month, our director, Allan Frey, recently received treatment on his ear to remove melanoma. He and his wife returned to the States last week so he could receive further treatments. We praise the Lord that his final surgery went well and he is now recovering. Please continue to keep them in your prayers. They will be returning to Peru in a little over a week.

During the Freys’ absence I have had the added responsibilities (and fun, I may add) of directing the two school choirs and teaching the high school Biology class. Teaching Biology has been a fun challenge, and I am continually amazed at the intricacy with which our Creator God has fashioned His creation.

Thank you for your interest in the ministry here in Peru. Please continue to pray for the above mentioned items.

God bless as you serve Him faithfully.

Serving the Savior,
Heidi Robbins
