Dear Praying Friends and Family,
Greetings from the very hot and steamy Midwest! I am certainly escaping the gray dampness of a Lima winter, as the sun has been shining and the temps have been soaring well above 90 degrees nearly every day since I returned home. What a welcome!
Thank you for your prayers during the last busy month and a half. The month of June brought a flurry of activity as the school year came to a close. Besides wrapping up the loose ends of the school year, giving final exams, and finalizing report cards, the month also brought some fun, including end-of-school-year parties, awards, and “dress up like a nerd day”. The Friday before school ended we held an award ceremony and recognized many students and teachers for their hard work throughout the year. The end also brought some sadness as we said goodbye to two teachers and one missionary family who will not be returning to Fetzer next year. While goodbyes are never easy, we rejoice at the Lord’s leading in each of their lives and ministries.
Continue to pray for my church, Iglesia Bautista El Manantial, in Manchay. It was sad to leave my brothers and sisters there even for the space of six weeks. The Lord brings them to mind often, and it is a privilege to be able to pray for the ministry while not physically present. Two of my friends from church, Emily and Vicky, are teaching my Sunday school class in my absence. Continue to pray for the Lord to work in the hearts of the girls in that class.
I praise the Lord for all the ways in which He has worked throughout the past school year. It is with much joy that I reflect on the past year and look forward to the coming one!
Two days after school ended found me boarding a plane bound for the United States. I arrived home on July 1st and have greatly enjoyed spending time with my family, seeing my home church family, and getting involved in various ministries. July 4th-8th I was able to help out with Vacation Bible School at my home church, Faith Baptist Church in Camp Point, IL. The Lord gave me the opportunity to share during the “Missionary Minutes” time every day and teach the children a little about the country of Peru and my ministry there. The kids also loved learning a few Spanish words! Our offering project for the week was “Libros for Lima”, raising money for books for the church library at El Manantial. Praise the Lord that about $600 dollars came in for the project!
I have also enjoyed presenting my ministry of the past year in two different churches. Sunday, July 10th I shared at Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy, IL, and this past Sunday at my home church. This coming Sunday the 24th, I look forward to sharing at Urbandale Baptist Church in Urbandale, IA. Each time God gives me the chance to share, I am filled with excitement. There is great joy in sharing with others what the Lord has been pleased to do both in and through me through the working of His Spirit, His Word, and the prayers of His saints.
In the time remaining before I head back to Peru on August 11th, I look forward to spending some time with friends in Iowa and family, sharing in the celebration of my dad’s 20 years of ministry at Faith Baptist Church on July 31st, and preparing some things for my classes this coming year.
As the Lord brings them to mind, please keep the following requests before the Throne of Grace:
Prayer Requests
1. Spiritual growth and physical rest during my time in the States.
2. Opportunities to be an encouragement to others.
3. Travels- In Iowa- July 23-30th, and to Peru- August 11-12th.
4. Support- Praise the Lord, He has provided a little over half of my needed funds for the coming year!
5. Decisions about the future.
6. Emily and Vicky as they teach the girls Sunday school class.
Thank you for your faithful prayers!
Serving the Savior,
Heidi Robbins
