Dear Praying Friends and Family,
I’m typing this update to you all while sitting outside our school enjoying the coolness of a summer evening. Around me float the sounds of passing traffic, distant music, the neighbors children’s voices, a few barking stray dogs, and the laughter drifting from my friends’ houses. Gazing upward I see the dark outline of the dusty foothills of the Andes silhouetted against the orange glow of an evening sky illuminated by the lights of this great city. Looking at these mountains brings to mind the verse that our church memorized during the month of February. (I’ll be kind and share it with you all in English :-)
“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” Psalm 90:2
What a privilege it is to serve this everlasting God. He is so good to use us, finite humans, in the outworking of His eternal plan.
Life is settling into a somewhat “normal”, albeit busy routine as we near the end of the first month back in classes. I am enjoying continuing to teach my Junior High English class about grammar, vocabulary, Literature, and other things which they find equally as fascinating. :-) This semester I am also teaching piano to five students and flute to two students, which keeps me busy several days a week after school. Please keep the students of our school in your prayers. MKs need encouragement, support, and spiritual growth as much as any of us. Pray for those of us who are teachers, that we would be Christ-like examples to our students and teach them with love, patience, and passion.
Please continue to pray for my church, Iglesia Bautista El Manantial. I have been especially challenged recently to be faithfully and fervently praying for the growth of my church and the faithfulness of the members. Please join me in that prayer. Also, pray for the young ladies that attend my Sunday School class and for me as I seek to teach them from the Word of God.
Several of you have written to ask details about my plans for next year, finances, coming home, etc. Allow me to answer some of those questions. My plan is to return to the States during the first week of July and come back to Peru around the second week of August. I am greatly looking forward to spending some time with family and friends, but will also be anxiously awaiting my return to Peru for the following school year. (And in case any of you are wondering, yes, I plan to also return home in October for two weeks to attend the wedding of my dear brother! :-) Next year I will be continuing my ministry at Fetzer and also will be involved in various ministries within my local church. My financial needs for the year will be basically the same as they were for this past year. I will need to raise around $1200 dollars for airfare, and roughly $610 dollars a month to cover insurance, rent, and living expenses. Please pray for the Lord’s provision in His perfect timing.
As always, I covet your prayers! Please feel free to e-mail if you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer you (and I love to get mail ;-). God bless each one of you as you serve Him faithfully!
Serving the Savior,
Heidi Robbins
